CVeya, an interesting advanced project
Introduction
The other day, while browsing facebook, I stumbled on a facebook group for tunisians who want to legally immigrate to other western countries such as canada, and the EU, noticing that a significant portion of them did not get a high school diploma but rather they opted for going to more practical schools where they learned skills such as welding, vehicle repair, climatisation and other similar skills, they are called skilled traders.
An accurate estimate on the numbers of those people is yet to be decided but the other interesting part is countries like canada are heavily invested in these skilled traders and are actively opening up opportunities for them to immigrate due to the aging population in the country, as the most recent projections estimate that around 700,000 skilled traders in canada are expected to retire between 2023 and 2028 leaving an ever increasing workers shortage. The Canadian government has set a target of increasing immigration numbers by 20,000 each year from 2023 to 2025 starting with 450,000 in 2023 and 500,000 in 2025. In their newly released Canada’s 2023–2025 Immigration Levels Plan they emphasis that atleast 56% of those immigrants must be specialized in healthcare and skilled trade. A good amount of those immigrants will come from tunisia, since due to the extreme inflation and bad economic conditions of the country, people and especially skilled workers are looking for more stable countries to immigrate to, improving their quality of life and future.
Problem
Tunisian skilled traders and healthcare workers do in fact study how to present themselves, how to create a resume and talk about their experiences and accomplishments but due to the francophone nature of our education, they find that what they learned in how to apply for a job or write a resume is incompatible with Canadian standards. The vast majority of the posts that I mentioned in that facebook group are people asking for guidance or help on how to write a Canadian CV and about the immigration process, as it is often presented in english or french in Canadian websites that most tunisians find unclear.
Project Scope
Due to the nature of my skills and not wanting to get too ahead of myself, the project will be limited to creating a solution to the CV creation and preparation process, I will also not include market research and business strategy competitive analysis, focusing only on the software side of the competitive analysis.
Solution
An automated CV generator, the user will input his information, skills etc and that information will be parsed and put in a customizable word file that is compatible with Canadian CV standards. I will elaborate more on the project ideation process and development by publishing a Technical specifications document
Timeline
I expect to finish developing the core idea in 2 months time.
